1346. The small town of Hamelin becomes completely overrun by a plague of rats, the inhabitants have no idea that these rats carry with them one of the most devastating pandemics in human history. With the town consumed by plague, once they are dragged down to edge of collapse they will turn to the help of a mysterious stranger. However, when the town believes he can doubled crossed they could not have imagined the consequences for their treachery against the Pied Piper.

Paying the Piper is a devised piece of multimedia theatre first shown at the Bath Fringe Festival, exploring the darker side folk stories and fairytales that are normally reserved for children. These stories which often date back hundreds of year, told from generation to generation by the oral tradition, often dealing with universal human struggles that are shown to be timeless. Yet, despite the story’s age we have yet to unlock the mysteries behind the pied piper, still unaware if he is good or evil, hero or villain.
